Meet the press
A'breya Barfield
She’s beautiful inside and out, and was born right here in Moultrie, GA .She plans on graduating from CCHS, then going to the Army to serve her country, but that isn't all for her. Afterwards, she plans on attending a college to get a DR’s Degree as a baby physician (OB) with a husband and maybe a kid. She has big goals that takes an intelligent, amazing, and determined young woman much like herself to succeed. Her life motto fits her goals, “YOLO”.
She spends her summers at home in her bed asleep. She loves to chill and hang out with her friends. She likes to travel to Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi. Her favorite artist is Tink, her favorite song is Treat Me Like Somebody, and her favorite food is Philly-cheese steak. She has three nephews that she would do anything for because they are her heart.
She wants to be an Obstetrician because she loves newborn babies. She has a loving, "motherly" spirit about her. Her aunt influences her to be the person she is today because of the caring and loving patience she has. Her aunt has showed her to take the best out of everything and to never let petty things bother you. This is why Bree is Bree.
Arion Posey
Posey was born June 11, 1998, in Detroit, Michigan, living life, and traveling back and forth between there and Moultrie, Georgia for the majority of her childhood. Eight years later in Moultrie, she considers Teac Christy, Bre Copeland, Cherokee Paige, and Shanika Johnson her best friends “because they're weird, crazy, have issues, and are fun to be around.” Her favorite color is pink, and her favorite food is tacos. If she could have one superpower, she would choose invisibility.
In the future, she plans to attend college to major in Journalism. As of right now, she doesn’t know which college to attend or how many years she will attend, but she will be successful in whichever pathway she chooses.
Last but not least, Posey has been on the Colquitt County 50th Regiment Auxiliary team for two years. “It’s fun, keeps me busy, helps me stay out of trouble, and it's an amazing extracurricular activity.” she stated.
It’s definite that Arion will have a successful future and I wish her the best of luck.
Brooke Conger
Brooke Conger is a senior at Colquitt County High School. She was born on June 23, 1997 in Moultrie, Georgia. Brooke was drawn to journalism because she has always loved to write. She fell in love with magazine articles because they are easier for her to relate to. This year will be Brooke’s fifth year being a part of the Journalism Staff. Last year in Journalism, she took pictures and did many articles on sports. Brooke aspires to earn a degree as a Registered Nurse at Florida State University. She wants to be a RN because she likes to help people and watch them get better. Brooke wants to go to FSU because it has great programs and it is such a prestigious school.
Brooke has a love for dancing, and one can find her performing with auxiliary and color guard. She loves dance and auxiliary because it is a great way for her to express herself, and it is a great stress reliever. Along with her academic goals, Brooke wants to continue dancing after high school. She would love to teach younger girls ballet. With the stress Brooke receives from school and auxiliary, she usually takes a break from it by listening to music. Her love of music goes hand in hand with her love of dance. When asked who her favorite artist is, Brooke had trouble narrowing it down to just one person, but she decided that her all-time favorite artist would have to be John Mayer.
Brooke is very a down to earth and easy person to get along with. She is just an all-around hardworking student. She does not allow her extracurricular goals get in her way of her academic goals. Other than color guard, Brooke likes to ride horses and spend time with family. She does not have much time to do many other things because color guard takes up so much time. Brooke’s favorite food is cheese sticks, types of movies are scary or action, color is green, and football team is the Florida State Seminoles.
Cassidy Weaver
When someone puts their goal into action, things go into progress easier. This is what is going on with Cassidy. Cassidy was born May 21st, 1998 in Thomasville, Georgia. She stays hipster; she's not a complete stereotypical teenager from our generation. She is very unique in her own way. She doesn't want to be anyone but herself in the future. Normally you ask a kid, “Hey, what do you want to be when you grow up?'’ and they'll answer you with a, “Oh, I want to be a princess.” Or maybe something like, “Well, I want to be a fireman.” Cassidy wants to be Cassidy when she grows up: just as simple as wanting to be the “future Cassidy.”
What inspires Cassidy is a man called Adam Young. She states that he stays true to himself. She finds inspiration in how no matter what Adam Young goes through, he always perseveres and will not let anyone get to him. She finds this beyond inspiring to her life.
Cassidy has her goals set in place, one place called college. She wants to get as many scholarships as she can obtain. Her ultimate goal is to first be an intern at a publishing company. Then climb the publishing ladder to become an editor. What contributes to being an editor can be answered with the question, why are you the person you are today? She answered books and more books made her who she is. She seems to understand characters in books better than she comprehends people in real life.
Cassidy feels like she’s doing herself a favor when she does her homework. She has to start somewhere to reach her scholarships in school. With so much stress in her goals of school and going up to her editorial ladder, how does Cassidy manage stress? “With music on YouTube and a little bit of Pinterest,” she answers. Life's climb is starting for Cassidy Weaver.
Claudia Oro
Determination and dedication is the motivation for Claudia Oro. Claudia was born on September 28, 1998, on the coast of Cuba, where she lived for several years until she moved to Miami, Florida at the age of five. Claudia grew up in a loving and caring family, and was surrounded in a peaceful environment, no matter where they lived. Later, she moved to Moultrie, Georgia, where Claudia’s dreams began to take action.
Everyone has an inspiration, or someone who makes them want to change and be a better person. Claudia’s inspiration is her family, because they have achieved so many great things during their lifetime, and they encourage her to do the same. She wishes to carry on the tradition of helping others and changing the world one step at a time.
During her time in high school, she plans on doing whatever she can and taking any class that can help her get a step closer to her dream career, which is becoming a Registered Nurse. After Claudia graduates high school, she’s definitely going to college, though she hasn’t decided on what college to attend. She states that as long as it has a great Healthcare program, and it’s not too far from her family, she will be completely satisfied.
Though she is still in high school and becoming a Registered Nurse won’t happen anytime soon, Claudia indulges herself in artistic hobbies such as making flower crowns, writing poems, and spending way too much time on Instagram. She also enjoys reading a different variety of novels.
Claudia may have major plans about her career and goals; however, she still has fun with family and friends, and intends to continue doing so.
Delilah Wood
As an 11th grader and Journalism Intern, Delilah Wood enjoys writing about her school and challenging herself with projects such as creating monthly newsletters and updating our website. She was born on September 19, 1997, and she grew up right here in Colquitt County. From MCJROTC to being the Student Council Treasurer and back to the Math Team, Wood is always involved with or reporting on some organization.
This is Wood's fourth year being involved with Journalism, but her first year working with Mrs. Passmore. She is excited about The Packer Press this year and what it has to offer to the students and staff at CCHS. She believes seeing the news in print or published on a website ensures the achievement is fully recognized. While Wood has been reporting for a few years, she is still eager to learn new things, especially this year; this is her first time creating a website and her first year actually working with a newsletter template.
Besides completing high school with the Top Ten GPA, Wood also hopes to get into a college that offers an excellent Journalism, ROTC, and math program. It took her many years to narrow down her options and truly find her passion since she loves to do so many things. Wood's days of reporting may seem numbered, but in actuality they are only beginning; although it may not be with The Packer Press, she knows that this program will grow in the years to come.
Gabriella Lirio
10th grade, 1st year Journalism student, Gabby Lirio is fascinated by writing, which is why she is taking Journalism. Just being around her bubble personality, you can tell she’s artsy. She loves to dance and looks forward to trying out for the plays at Colquitt County High School. Painting and singing are also huge hobbies of hers.
Lirio dreams to travel the world when she’s older! She loves South Florida and Colorado. This is no surprise seeing she’s from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Chips and queso dip are a must for Gabby! She says “I can’t have chips and salsa without queso dip.” Maybe it’s because she’s part Cuban? Or maybe she just really loves queso dip.
After high school, Gabby knows for a fact and is determined she’ll be a Marine Biologist. You wouldn’t believe her other goal. Gabby strives and dreams to be on Broadway. “Gabby Lirio stars in Broadway Show”. We can see it now, and to think she started it all with Journalism. The journalism students can’t wait to see her name in lights. We wish her the best of luck with all the journeys she’ll encounter with her life.
Kashuna Copeland
Interviewing the staff on Journalism could be fun especially when you get to interview 11th grader, Bre Copeland who has been in Journalism for 3 years. Bre was born March 13th, 1998 in Phoebe Putney in Albany Ga. but was raised in Doerun Ga.

Let’s welcome Bre Copeland into the Journalism staff, knowing she will have a successful junior year at Colquitt County High School as well as the rest of her time in school.
Kerri Owens
If you attend Colquitt County High School and don’t know Kerri Owens, then you most likely live under a rock. A senior this year, Kerri has been involved in SGA cabinet and made homecoming court all three years at CCHS. She is a member of the A Capella choir, starred in the musical Aida her junior year, and is known for her exquisite singing. You may know these things already, but not everyone is fortunate enough to know her in a more personal way. Talking with her, one is able to understand more how she lives her motto, “Be real.”
Kerri looks up to several people in her life. She looks for people who share wisdom and inspiration, and considers her mom to be her biggest role model. “She is selfless and disciplined,” Kerri explains, “and she has a lot of wisdom.” In conversation, she is very thorough and really soaks it all in, just by her careful, well thought answers.
Much like her mother, Kerri dreams of being involved in worship ministry. “I am happiest when I’m leading worship,” she claims, “I know my life will involve ministry.” Everyone around her knows, too, as she has already started leading worship for Trinity Baptist Youth and Heritage Church in Moultrie.
Despite all of her achievements and talents, Kerri is down to earth and very personable. According to her, she has plenty of “t-shirt days” and tries to never become too concerned with the opinions of others. You can catch her at school, church, or working as a barista at Beans & Strings. Flag her down and get to know her, you won’t regret it.

Weston Rogers
Sometimes, the position of an engineer is thought of as a genetic career, as if family genes are passed down to younger generations inspiring them to pursue the profession. This is not always the case, and Weston Rogers is an example of someone who has no engineers in his ancestry, but wants to pursue the position of an engineer of Astronautical Aerospace.
Being interested in building things from a very young age, Weston turned this childhood activities into a passion for learning how things come together. After his earliest memories of learning about the now retired Space Shuttle, he decided he wanted to design vehicles in Aerospace to carry cargo and crew to new frontiers.
Weston Rogers’ ambition to achieve this goal started when he first heard of the private New Space company Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) being the first private effort to successfully attach to the International Space Station. The company’s main goal is to land millions of people on Mars in order to preserve humanity in case of any global catastrophe, and allow humans to become a multi-planetary species with the world’s first reusable rocket technology. Weston Rogers is up to the challenge of not just achieving a goal of working at a job, but a corporation that has a lifestyle to go with it, working random hours of work upwards around seventy hours a week, working beyond those of other every-day jobs.
Not having any role models and being an independent to his goals, Weston Rogers is his own role model, not living up to anyone else’s standards but his own. He plans to achieve his goals of SpaceX no matter the cost, and will not take “no” for an answer. Aerospace Engineering is not just a goal Weston Rogers plans and will achieve, but a lifestyle not many others are willing to take in order to achieve a childhood dream.
