Youth Art Month
The month of March is nationally recognized as Youth Art Month (YAM). The Council for Art Education administers youth art month to celebrate art education for students of all ages. The art teacher at CCHS, Whitney Hood, thinks the month is important because “it shows our community the importance of art education in the middle school, junior high and high school level, and recognizes student achievement in visual arts.” Mrs. Hood is picking 20-25 pieces of art to be in a youth art show. The show will take place Saturday, March 14th from 11 to 1 o’clock. There will be pieces from a variety of mediums including painting, drawing, pottery and mixed media. The event is to be a show not a sale, but it is socially appropriate to ask the artists if you may buy their work if you so desire.
